At the end of a long Cross Country flight, when you're trying to figure out what field you'll land in, one of the most important pieces of information you'll need is the wind direction on the ground.
Hang Glider pilots have used landing wind indicators in many forms over the years. All of them seem to have some drawback. For example, one popular wind indicator is a smoke bomb, about the size of a 35mm film container, that puts out a cloud of orange smoke. Drawbacks? Sometimes they don't work. Sometimes they start a fire in the dry grass. And they're expensive: one source sells two of them for $16 plus $5 shipping, plus $17 hazardous materials fee.
In contrast, the Landing Streamer I'm offering is cheap, easy to carry and deploy, and it's re-usable. Once you've tried one, you'll be hooked.
A box of 10 Landing Streamers will cost you $15, with shipping by priority mail anywhere in the US included. At $1.50 each, you can afford to leave it behind if it's too much trouble to retrieve, and since it is completely biodegradable, you won't have to worry (too much) about leaving trash out in the wild.
